Twitter: how to become good at it?

All twitterers, please answer.

Basically, I’m asking, how to use Twitter successfully?
I’ve started recently with Twitter, find me on Twitter @stvbsll

I’ve been following the Dos’ and avoiding the Donts’, that is:
- I use for my enjoyment, sharing a piece of information that I heard either on mainstream media or alternative/independent news …
- I don’t have a brand or anything to promote yet… I’m still working on a personal website and blog that I will launch in the near future…so i’m using Twitter to build a community of followings + followers, then when my website is ready for publishing i’ll have additional traffic to my website and blog.

people might say there is no such thing as a Twitter strategy … I think there are!? What do you think?

On my Twitter, I have 1 follower, and I am following 5.
The ‘follower’ has 8,291 (following) and (10,818) followers
The 5 people that I am following have the characteristics:
#1: 24 (following) and 15 (followers)
#2: 27,208 (following) and 806,623 (followers)
#3: 10 (following) and 105,093 (followers)
#4: 512 (following) and 1,206,551 (followers)
#5: 155 (following) and 1,196,016 (followers)

Person #1 has the lowest numbers of ‘following’ and ‘followers’… I’ve sent her a tweet 3 days ago but got no response … figure that I should read her tweets and come up with an interesting tweet to send her.
The others have such large numbers of ”following’ and ‘followers’… perhaps I should just give up on them and find other people in order to tweet back and forth … and build a community

Is a Twitter feed posted on my blog worth it?

I have a blog on fantasy football and I was thinking about adding a Twitter feed to and from the blog. So, on my blog I would have what was said on Twitter and then I would auto post the blog posts to Twitter as well. Do you think that I will see a lot more traffic if I do this? Is it really worth it?

I have been following this internet marketing guy named Matt Bacak (www.mattbacak.com) for the past couple of months, and he has talked a bit about social media and Twitter. This guy is a millionaire and he is only like 30 years old. (Sadly I am way past my 30’s and would love to be a millionaire).

I was very surprised when he said that if you are looking to make money from social media it may surprise you at how little you will actually make from things like promoting on Twitter. Everywhere you look, everybody is saying social media this, social media that.

Anyways, if you are looking for more traffic to your blog and not necessarily more money than yes, it probably will help increase traffic to have a Twitter feed. If you are looking to make more money off your blog, then you may want to stick to other marketing techniques instead.

Also, you have to look at this way, if you want the Twitter feed on your blog, how much time is it really going to take to install a plug-in and get started? Probably not that much time, but if you seem not to be able to keep up with your blog, promoting it, and Twitter as well, then my advice would be to drop Twitter. Hope this helps and good luck man!

Are there any Twitter tools that can help me increase traffic to my websites and make more money?

I have heard that Twitter is a great way to increase traffic to your website to make more money. Are there any good Twitter tools that can help me do this so that I can make the most out if Twitter and not waste time on it?

There are some auto post Twitter tools that can help you plan out your tweets so that you can draw attention to your website. There are also Twitter tools that help you find people to follow that may have interest in your website.

Truthfully though, the best way to use Twitter is to use it as you would networking in person. If you think about it, most of the people who are on Twitter are trying to make a living online just like you, and unless you are offering products about making a living online or working from home and things of that nature, you probably will not see that much money come from your Twitter work.

But, Twitter is a good networking tool to make connections and possible partnerships with others in your niche and to learn new things, so look at Twitter that way instead of simply the income value. Check out www.mattbacak.com for more info on Twitter and social media sites. He has some excellent advice on how to utilize various marketing strategies in order to get your sites generating income.

What the best way to use twitter for business?

I want to bring traffic to my website using twitter. Any good suggestions?

Hello,

People say Twitter is a great marketing tool. For me - I still have to find out how to be successful.
I am but not as much as I would like to be.

Make sure that you have lots of followers. Start following people and they will most probably follow you in return. Post every day, but not only about your products. I would suggest that you twitt twice or three times a day but only once about what you sell. Other posts - just casual talk.

And remember - it will take some time.

What are the must use sites for expanding your network?

I’ve started a blog and I’m trying to expand my network to get relevant traffic to the site. I’ve linked my twitter, facebook, and I’ve joined several blog directories and added my site to the major search engines.

Are there any other must-use sites to get the word out?

My blog is about writing and poetry, are there also any good writing and poetry related sites?

you have started good and going in the right direction.

Apart from Twitter and facebook you can create a lense at Squido and hub pages and like site. You can also register at social bookmarking websites like digg, diggo, mixx, redit and all.

And the most important thing is to search for like wise blog which has same topic as your and commenting on the blog.

This is all most bloggers do for the rest of their life. They build up links. The more you make backlinks the more your site is going to be popular and the it shows up on top of the seach engine for your keyword of the website.

How do I increase my followers and general activity on my Twitter page?

How do i get followers and have people talk about my twitter page? I am in charge of the page for this company and need to increase traffic. any ideas?

Others have suggested that you use 3rd party apps to increase your Twitter following. This is not a bad idea, though I find little if any need to pay for such services. However, please keep in mind that not all 3rd party apps are created equal; which means you never want to give your user name and password to some of them while others it is no issue. Quite honestly, without 3rd party apps Twitter would be nothing.

However…

To focus first on 3rd party apps as your way of growing your Twitter account would be unwise. You say you are running this account for a business.

Does this business have a name?

Do they have a preferred image and offline marketing already in place?

What is their mission and where do they hope to be 5 years from now?

Are these answers reflected within the scope of your Twitter profile? They should and can be by choosing the right background, getting the best picture, and using the right words.

Speaking of words, is the bio for this company full of rich highly targeted keywords? This is your time for a 1 min elevator speech in 160 characters. Most people don’t realize how important this little bio is to their online success with Twitter.

Therefore, if you want to get the most out of Twitter first start by building a powerful image for Twitter. Then its time to give back. The more you give back to Twitter the more you will get out of the same application. Give back by sharing valued information with your audiences rather than just blurting out "wanna buy my widget?"

For example, I try to answer at least one Yahoo Answer a day 6 days a week. I also strive to make my answers more than what a person would expect. These days I focus my answers on Twitter or at least social networking in general and I’m satisfied to just put my link at the bottom.

Why do I go to all this trouble?

Simple.

Because I realize that the more I contribute to the lives of others here the more they will value the things I have to say and follow me on Twitter and elsewhere.

That’s my secret, and now it is yours too.

I hope that helps.

Google becoming obsolete?

I read somewhere that Google is becoming obsolete, that Twitter is stealing Google’s traffic. But how can Twitter be more widely used than Google when they’re two separate things?

This is sort of like saying "Wal Mart is becoming obsolete because more people are going to McDonalds".

Google may become obsolete one day, but that day does not appear to be any time soon.

should I pay the $5 minimum for the Google Adwords?

I am making a new website similar to Twitter or Facebook and I would like traffic to my site.

thanks for any help

Adwords is an unbeleivable marketing tool.

We pay as little as .10 cents for a relevant click, and get thousands of impressions for free.

AdWords should be a part of any serious website’s marketing budget.

It is very easy to use but can take some finesse and creativity to use it as efficiently as possible.
